Title discrepancy[edit]

The name of this television documentary is America: A Personal History of the United States, clearly evident in the opening text of each episode, which then goes on to label it as being "By Alistair Cooke". The companion book is what is entitled Alistair Cooke's America. If I get no response here within a few days, I'll (1) move the text of this article to "America: A Personal History of the United States" and (2) rewrite this article, "Alistair Cooke's America", at least briefly, so that it mentions the book and then directs the reader to "America: A Personal History of the United States" for information about the television documentary. — President Lethe (talk) 18:47, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - not sure how I missed this. All the sources we have (including all those linked to in the article) list the title of the series as Alistair Cooke's America. This is also true of the various DVD releases (not yet released in region 1, but in region 2 and region 4) see for example the Amazon.co.uk listing here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alistair-Cookes-America-Cooke/dp/B0002PC3AS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1225141039&sr=1-1 . I propose reverting this to what it was before the recent changes. Quadparty (talk) 21:01, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just in case doubts arise in the future or are lingering even now, I've made this image. — President Lethe (talk) 07:27, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BAFTA award[edit]

The article currently states The series was a great success in both countries and won a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA. with no specific citation, and this fact is not covered in the citation at the end of the paragraph. I checked the BAFTA website, and although America was nominated in the 1973 Factual Series category [1] it didn't win the award. It appears Alistair Cooke won that year's Richard Dimbleby award (for "Outstanding Presenter in the Factual Arena") but I'm not sure this would count as an award win for the programme? Likewise for the Golden Globe, it appears to have been nominated for the Best Television Series – Drama but didn't win. [3]. Techtri (talk) 11:34, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
