SOMEONE REWRITE OR DELETE THIS PAGE[edit]

It looks like it was copy-pasted from the ADC homepage or something. POV, no sources, not encyclopedic in the least.-Heatsketch (talk) 00:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reading this discussion page it seems that it's been like this for awhile now.Heatsketch (talk) 00:47, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I git a bug in my bonnet to do so today so I am including a history section, creating a section to quickly list the different departments, and another longer section to list a bunch of it's campaigns over the years. There's more than adequate info out there that just has to be organized. CarolMooreDC (talk) 17:35, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Numbers of Muslims and Jews[edit]

The sentence "There are 3 million Americans with Arab heritage and approximately 7 million American Muslims. In comparison, there are 5.2 million Jewish Americans." is irrelevant to the article content and unsourced.--Pecher 10:53, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's true, but this group isn't a lobbying group just like the Anti-Defamation League isn't a lobbying group. Yuber(talk) 15:03, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
"Lobbying is the practice of private advocacy with the goal of influencing a governing body, in order to ensure that an individual's or organization's point of view is represented in the government." ADC clearly states its intention to promote "a balanced U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East", which is a lobbying activity under the definition above. Thus, it is a lobbying organization.--Pecher 23:10, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but that is original research. Please show a source that has called them a lobbying organization. Yuber(talk) 23:16, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
ADC itself says it is engaged in lobbying activites[1]. In fact, there is nothing shameful about that.--Pecher 08:49, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, but don't delete the civil rights description as not even its enemies deny that. Yuber(talk) 11:33, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

pov?[edit]

This article seems to be written as an advertisement."ADC’s Communications Department challenges defamation, stereotyping and bias in films, television and news reporting" in accordance with wikipedia rules isn't it supposed to be "perceived defamation, stereotyping and bias"? Many other sentences in the article have the same writing style. It should be more NPOV like the NAACP article.--Exander 05:23, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

copyvio?[edit]

The text was apparently pulled from their copyrighted website [2] and someone changed it with a thesaurus...I don't know if this qualifies as a copyvio or not. Could someone more knowledgeable than I am determine if this is the case? --Deusnoctum 19:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC) Much of the article was pulled from their website and slightly changed--not a complete copyvio, but enough that it should have been changed. I reverted the article to the last version without that text. --Deusnoctum 20:24, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Klinghoffer[edit]

I seriously hope that whoever undid my edit isn't claiming that Leon Klinghoffer was "murdered". I deleted the reference to "terrorists," though I think that was fully descriptive, and changed it to the absolutely neutral, objective "hijackers." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.73.172.198 (talk) 21:20, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mary Rose Oakar as a convicted criminal[edit]

I removed this allegation. It was supported by a document establishing an indictment, not a conviction. Oakar's wikipedia page says she pled guilty to a misdemeanor violation of campaign finance laws. That claim was not referenced. If it is true, it is misleading to call it a conviction of a federal crime rather than saying more specifically that she pled guilty to a misdemeanor violation of campaign finance laws. In any case such information is out of place and inflammatory in an introductory paragraph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iqschwartz (talkcontribs) 03:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Paragraph on ADC protesting TSA policies of Jan 2010[edit]

I removed the characterization of civil rights organizations as "terrorists." Also changed non-neutral and overly analytic language which claimed that the civil rights orgs were aiming to undermine legislation and substituted a more fact-based description. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iqschwartz (talkcontribs) 03:59, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. One must be ever alert on some articles. CarolMooreDC (talk) 23:04, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

NAAA[edit]

I propose that the stub content of National Association of Arab-Americans, which merged into the ADC, be merged here. They think it's all over (talk) 19:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

              I agree
