This band has not been around since 2006[edit]

The music they put out prior to their name change is completely different than the music they put out since they discovered Imagine Dragons. This start date is misleading and a lame attempt to look more relevant, and not like they are completely biting Imagine Dragons style. This band page needs to be updated to reflect the actual 2 year history of this band, and their first band isn't even relevant enough to have a wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.71.228.195 (talk) 21:17, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Strange, because the band is still around and has on display a good calendar of gigs for the future. Each member of the band has been there from 2006. They may have changed their style or genre but that doesn't mean much in the big scheme of things. If it's true, though, and the article doesn't already address the change, a person ought to make a *good*edit instead of having a little rant on the talk page. Be bold! 162.196.161.203 (talk) 21:41, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 17 February 2017[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: not moved. A clear consensus that DIFFCAPS is enough here. Jenks24 (talk) 06:52, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

American AuthorsAmerican Authors (band) – the current taken is far too easily confused with the much bigger topic of American writers. The distinction offered by capitalisation is inadequate when weighed against vastly greater cultural significance of the writers. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 04:30, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose per WP:DIFFCAPS. This band is fairly well known, and considering there's no article for "American writers", just a DAB full of lists, this is probably a better target, especially because I'm not seeing a lot of mislinks/evidence people aren't getting what they want. Nohomersryan (talk) 07:14, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. No reason to believe any significant number of readers bothering to type the capital "A" expect anything other than the band. A hatnote is sufficient for the few who don't. Station1 (talk) 08:05, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment but American authors should redirect to American writers. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:26, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a double redirect, but no objection to the concept. Station1 (talk) 08:30, 17 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. WP:DIFFCAPS aside, the band appears to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the phrase. -- Tavix (talk) 20:00, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
