There is an error here.

The bison were introduced to the "Wichita" Mountain Wildlife Refuge, NOT the "Ouachita" National Forest and Game Preserve. These are two distinct, and different locations in Oklahoma.

The Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge is in SW Oklahoma, while the Ouachita National Forest and Game Preserve is in SE Oklahoma.

A careful reading of the American Bison Society site confirms this:
