Purely from a Wikipedia standpoint, this page needs a lot of work to make it more like other Wikipedia pages. I simply do not have the time to do it. I hope someone else will. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 03:52, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so confused... Why is this article called "American Booksellers Association for Free Expression" when the name of the Association is apparently "American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression?" Are these two different but related things? This should be explained, and there should be a redirect from ABFFE to ABAFE. Or is the title a mistake? In that case, the article should be moved. The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression is the bookseller's voice in the fight against censorship. Founded by the American Booksellers Association in 1990, ABFFE’s mission is to promote and protect the free exchange of ideas, particularly those contained in books, by opposing restrictions on the freedom of speech; issuing statements on significant free expression controversies; participating in legal cases involving First Amendment rights; collaborating with other groups with an interest in free speech; and providing education about the importance of free expression to booksellers, other members of the book industry, politicians, the press and the public.
Based on that, I say ABFFE is correct, and "American Booksellers Association for Free Expression" is incorrect.
But there may be more to the story. The American Booksellers Association has an existing wiki page. It is relatively short. This current ABFFE page is also relatively short, and the ABFFE is a creation of the ABA and remains "the bookseller's voice in the fight against censorship." Therefore, consideration should be given to merging this ABFFE page (mislabeled as ABAFE, hat tip to Rees11) into the ABA page. In a similar example, the American Library Association's "Office for Intellectual Freedom" which often works hand in hand with the ABFFE, is listed in the ALA page, not on its own OIF page.
Rees11, you raise an interesting issue. I'm going to see about merging the two articles. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling (talk) 03:02, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
