Season 1 contestant ages[edit]

Although sourced, many of the ages of the Season 1 contestants in the article contrast with their ages given on the show. It appears that these are the ages of the contestants when the source was written, not when the competition took place. For example, the show states that Mark Bouquin was 25, Tony Simmons was 40, Jim Vaglica was 53, Tabatha "Goldie" Chandler was 38, Ashley "Haze" Hazlett was 30, Mario Robinson was 24, and Cameron "Cam" Zagami was 21 during the competition - all one year younger that what the article says. There is also one episode where Simmons mentions that he's turning 41. I can't find a source saying exactly when production on the season began, although the sources appear to indicate that filming started around November 2015. Since Simmons was born in December 1974, that would put him at 40 and explain why he commented on getting older.

My question is whether it is acceptable to use the ages given on the show, even if we cannot find any sources besides the show to back them up. I did find an archived official contestant page for Season 1 (https://web.archive.org/web/20160616103253/http://www.fox.com:80/american-grit/competitors), but unfortunately, it does not provide their ages. The only potential source are official clips from Fox (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDOe68DIYqE - providing evidence of Zagami being listed as 21, Hazlett being listed as 30, and Vaglica being listed as 53). Nevertheless, if there are no text sources backing up the ages given on the show, are we not able to use the show's given ages, even if they are coming from the main source itself? Premise section[edit]

The purpose of the premise section is to provide an overview of the entire series and a summary of each season. The way the article is currently written goes against the formatting for the premise section and buries the premise for season 2 deep into the article, forcing readers to look harder to find it. The summaries of season 1 and season 2 are premises themselves and part of the overall series premise; therefore, they most appropriately belong in the premise section. The premise between the two seasons did not change. Both seasons involved a group of contestants competing in different challenges in order to win a cash prize. The only thing that changed was the gameplay format. That is why there are two separate sections for the two seasons, one with the gameplay format of season one, and the other with the gameplay format for season two. The premise between the two seasons did change. As noted, the premise for the first season was "pushing teams to the brink" and the premise for the second season was "helping competitors find their grit". The premise for the first season was a group of physically fit contestants were being put through physical challenges to determine whose physical endurance among these strong individuals was the strongest. The premise for the second season was a group of contestants who had a variety of issues were being put through physical and mental challenges to improve their lives. The premise for the first season was finding out which individuals who already had grit had the most grit. The premise for the second season was helping individuals who didn't have grit obtain grit. It's more than the gameplay format (and the location) that changed. The nature of the competitors changed and the objective outside of the cash prize changed. That's why these differences are noted in the article. The two separate sections for the two seasons are for the specific details of each season. The description of each season, which establishes the differences between the premises of season 1 and season 2, are premises themselves and therefore belong in the premise section.
