Opening comment[edit]

Someone should mention what event he won his WSOP bracelet in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.81.122.66 (talk) 19:39, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

death[edit]

Phil Helmuth has already posted on FB confirming Vahedi's passing from diabetic complications 40 mins ago it has been confirmed. Not a rumor anymore.

Mark Seif may be a poker pro and respected, but he is still not a reliable source. When it comes to death notices we are fairly strict about this type of thing.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 07:15, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rumors of Amir's death have started to surface all over the net, until they are confirmed by a reliable source, please do not add anything to the article about his rumored death. If you have a source that you are unsure of, please check wp:RS or share it here and somebody will add it.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 06:12, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to get into a pissing fight over this but if Phil Hellmuth, Mark Seif, David Plastik and many others have confirmed it, along with ThePlayr.com [1] you can be pretty damned sure it is true. The entire poker world is saying RIP on Facebook, Twitter, Forums etc right now, the man has passed away. RIP Amir. DegenFarang (talk) 08:14, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Now Bluff Magazine has also reported it. What do you need Barack Obama to announce it on CNN? DegenFarang (talk) 08:18, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Now that a reliable source, Bluff Magazine, has reported it, it has been included in the article.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 08:30, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Birth[edit]

Are we sure that his year of birth was 1961? According to this article here, he was 57 at the time of his death: http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/81390052.html SmartGuy (talk) 19:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The WSOP.com says 1961, which I'd believe more, and he doesn't look 57 in the pics, but we do have battling sources though, so I'm not sure what we should do about that. 2005 (talk) 23:06, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'd go with the WSOP.com in this case. The other source looks like one of those sources like the Examiner---minimal to no editorial oversight/fact checking.---Balloonman NO! I'm Spartacus! 23:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
