POV Theravada ordination of women[edit]

The article's statement "Given the lack of full ordination for women in modern Theravada Buddhism" would be contested by the numerous monastaries, bhikkhus, bhikkhunis, and lay people who identify as Theravada Buddhists and who accept the renewal of full ordination for women, in Australia, the United States, Germany, Belgium, England, and many other countries including residens in SE Asian countries. Therefore it is POV and controversial and amounts to promoting some claims against others. Db919 (talk) 05:16, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

HISTORY section[edit]

History section is not history; it's contemporary practice. History would include reference to the 8 precepts described in the Early Buddhist Texts for lay observances of Upsothas, monastary and individual monastic attendents, and development of the anagārika role into contemporary history throughout Buddhism and cross cultually. It might reference naiṣṭhika brahmacārin (Hindu celibate religious student) vows or Indian Theosophists, which historian Laura Harrington cited in reference to Anagāika Dharmapafa in a 2011 Buddhist Studies Review paper but I am not an expert enough on the history to evaluate her identification of that as the spurce of Anagārika Dharmapada's title and observances. (She missed the 2000+ year precedents in Upsothas and the word's use in Pāli, at least.) As written, however, the section just isn't History. Db919 (talk) 05:49, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
