Strength and Casualties[edit]

Al Salamu Alaykum User:عبدالرحمن4132, I wanted to raise the issue for the strength and casualties section.

12,000 soldiers, out of whom 6,000 soldiers died is just straight up impossible and way to exaggerated. This campaign was almost completely unannounced and was conducted by Bibikov without the knowledge of Potemkin, etc. And 6,000 soldiers is simply way to exaggerated. The author who claimed these ridiculous numbers, Ahmet Oztas, also said that there were 7,000 Russian soldiers at Aldy, 6,800 of whom died. He also falsified history and said that the Attack on Grigoriopolis was a North Caucasian victory.

Also, Russian documents themselves state that exactly 7,609 Russian soldiers took part, out of who a few thousand died (According to some, 1,006, others, 2,202, and some even say 3,000).

Also the garrison of Anapa was at least several 10,000s strong, not to mention how many thousand more Circassians also fought.Busulb Vash (talk) 18:23, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wa aleikum as salam
You make good points regarding Ahmed Oztas since at first it thought he provided good summary of Imam Mansur but then i noticed he made several chronological and factual errors but i did not use him for causaltie or army numbers since i provided other sources.
You're free to edit in my articles, make sure you provide sources for the following casualties you mentioned since I'm interested on what sources you have because i barely find anything on google books.
But since you provide a good reason on why you think otherwise, i wouldn't mind if we had your numbers. عبدالرحمن4132 (talk) 18:42, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
JazakAllahu khayran for the consideration. I think for now i'll do some more research and come back with some more sources.Busulb Vash (talk) 10:10, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
