Fitz Who?[edit]

What is the source for the alternative name? I have never come across it in any reference. Tmangray 18:30, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try and dig out a reference. The rest of the article could do with some references too. Verica Atrebatum 08:24, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, but as to the name, it appears only as de Greye (or de Grei) in Domesday. Never saw a FitzTurgis there nor in any subsequent documents relating to the Grey estates. Tmangray 16:48, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Croy in Picardy ?[edit]

The first name Anchetil / Anketil (< Old Norse Asketill) is clearly Norman and did not exist in Picardy at that time. He could not come from Picardy.Nortmannus (talk)

As a surname it was still only common in Normandy until the W.W.I. See f. e. : [1]
