Stan Barrett was first[edit]

Andy Green may have been first in the FIA record books for breaking Mach 1 in a land vehicle according to FIA rules, but he wasn't the first to achieve Mach 1 on land — not my a long shot. American movie stuntman Stan Barrett did that two decades earlier, in 1979, driving the Budweiser Rocket on Rogers Dry Lake in California. In this one respect the Andy Green article is inaccurate. Since the speed of sound is a function of air density and temperature, the measured speeds in the two situations were significantly different,  — QuicksilverT @ 16:32, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It was claimed that Stan Barrett broke the sound barrier but there is insufficient reliable evidence for this. His speed was not measured by any recognised authorities and the method used was highly suspect and completely lacking in credibility. --EricPolymath (talk) 14:40, 10 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 24 June 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved to Andy Green (RAF officer). There is clear consensus that this man is not the primary topic and thus cannot occupy the base name. However, there is a slight change of plans due to concerns raised of him not being known as a pilot; I chose "(RAF officer)" to balance not misleading others on what he does and concision. Another RM to move to a better title can be held at any time. (closed by non-admin page mover)Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 04:22, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
