Untitled[edit]

I've removed the references here to Anne Howard being a cousin of Elizabeth I. As far as I am aware, her husband was a distant cousin of Elizabeth's, but Anne by birth was not. Please let me know if I'm wrong and I'll revert it. Boleyn (talk) 19:37, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reversions Needed?[edit]

I started editing this article when I noticed some minor grammatical problems. After getting into it, I realized there were potentially serious problems with the content, but I don't feel knowledgeable enough on the topic to work on it myself.

Basically, this is the issue: Terynhann rewrote this article extensively on 18 December 2011, and I cannot judge whether Terynhann's edits should be improved upon or simply reverted.

First of all, before 18 December 2011 this article said Anne Howard allegedly wrote poetry but that the authenticity of this claim is disputed. Terynhann removed all references to the doubtful nature of Howard's authorship and instead introduced a large amount of text discussing Howard's literary works without citing sources that back up this claim. The one source (the Oxford DNB entry) that is directly quoted in the "Literary Works" section of this article is misrepresented; the quote actually describes the biograpy of Anne Howard written by a priest, not Howard's own writing as Terynhann's text states.

I also have to question the validity of using "Wikipedia Encyclopedia" as a source (FNs 4, 6, and 11). I have never seen this done in any other Wiki article.

On a stylistic level, Terynhann introduced grammatical errors, awkwardly worded text, and unnecessary repetitions. As I said above, I started to fix these but soon felt I was in over my head because of the larger contextual problems.

Personally I feel that the article as it stood on 5 August 2011 was vastly superior, but because there have been further edits since Terynhann's, because I'm not an expert on the subject of this article, and because I rarely edit Wiki articles for anything but grammar and style, I do not have the courage to be bold. I hope someone who is more familiar with the life of Anne Howard and the current scholarship on her authorial legacy will take a look at the various concerns I have pointed out here.
