Year of Birth: 1925 v 1926[edit]

At some point this issue has to be settled. Now that Jackson has passed, it should be easier to resolve than with a living performer with a contested year of birth (i.e. Doris Day). Don't mean in any way to be insensitive. She was a lovely lady who seemed to have had a great life and lived to a ripe old age, and my condolences to her loved ones.

I am just adding these links here, which were removed, justifiably I guess, as a linkfarm, as they support the 1925 year of birth, in addition to others reflinked into the article already:

Note that one cannot deduce anything from the age only, because it is often inaccurate (a similar issue recently happened with Valérie Guignabodet: the year of birth was first modified in the French WP version based on the announced age of death, but this age of death was actually incorrect). One good example is the playbill.com article, which says "dies at 90", but gives "Sept. 3, 1926" as the birth date. One of them is incorrect. One needs the explicit birth date. But one would need to know how it has been obtained: if this is from the age of death or from what the actress said in the past, this is not reliable (some actresses tend to lie on their year of birth so that they appear to be younger). I would also note that some sources merely parrot what an earlier source said. If I remember correct, Variety was citing The New York Times, so citing Variety in addition to the Times would be redundant. --Tenebrae (talk) 21:56, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Census records[edit]

The April 1930 U.S. census ([1]) gives young Anna's age as 4, which would indicate 1925 (as her birth was in September and the age to be cited by the enumerator was individual's age as of his or her last birthday). Ditto the April 1940 census ([2]) which gives her age as 14. Quis separabit? 18:52, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have access, but if this is based on official documents, this would be more reliable than anything else provided until now. Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 19:31, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Travel Manifest[edit]

The New York Passenger List of In Bound Passengers on the French SS “ Ile de France” from Southampton, England to New York, between January 20 and January 27, 1955, on which Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson (called Anna Wallach) traveled, with their son, Peter, gives Anne Jackson’s age as 29, which, matches the 1925 year of birth (see [3]). Quis separabit? 19:03, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Age of Anne Wallach (traveling with son, Peter)’s occupation is “Actress” and is aged 28 as of June 9, 1954 on trip to Plymouth, England from New York on the French Line's "Flandre" (see [4]). Quis separabit? 19:16, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources and access[edit]

Wikipedia allows the use of primary sources, with care, and allows the use of subscription websites, though it prefers more widely available citations. For a WP:BLP issue, especially with competing reliable sources, we cannot rely on a subscription primary source as any sort of final arbiter.

I would imagine that Anne Jackson's Social Security Death Index listing will be available publicly soon through a free site such as FamilySearch.org. --Tenebrae (talk) 21:59, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well if you check, it likely is under the name Anne Wallach based on her other documents, but no guarantees. Quis separabit? 23:15, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stillborn sister[edit]

We can't make a claim like that cited to a footnote that goes to:

Father[edit]

Anne Jackson's father was born Ivan Jakšeković. Jchekovitch is the phonetic pronunciation. He was from Croatia but when he migrated to USA in 1918, Croatia was part of Austria-Hungary/(the) Austro-Hungarian Empire. 65.88.88.200 (talk) 20:26, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
