Suggestions[edit]

There should be examples of how the antibodies target the hormone receptors responsible for Apoptosis. There should be examples of the process that causes the cells to undergo apoptosis after being exposed to MIH. If you're going to talk about MIH, perhaps talk and link it's activity to AMH. Merge proposal[edit]

Support the March 2019 proposal of merging the gene (Anti-Mullerian hormone receptor type 2) and the protein (Anti-Müllerian hormone receptor) articles, given that they both heavily overlap in content. As most of the body of the text discusses the function of the protein, or the consequence when function is lost, suggest merging to the protein. Klbrain (talk) 12:27, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Klbrain: I enhanced Merge bot to detect and report to me conflicting merge proposals, and the initial run of the new bot version reported two. This is one of them. On 12 March 2019 Artoria2e5 proposed merging Anti-Müllerian hormone receptor into what is now titled Anti-Mullerian hormone receptor type 2. On 2 March 2020 you added a missing merge template that proposed merging Anti-Mullerian hormone receptor type 2 into Anti-Müllerian hormone receptor. I'm not familiar with this topic area but it seems to me the parent article is Anti-Müllerian hormone. From the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health database, Anti-Müllerian hormone and its receptors "AMH signals through two related but distinct receptors, both serine/threonine kinases with a single transmembrane domain, called type II and type I." It looks to me like we have two articles (forks) about the type II but no article about the type I. Anti-Müllerian hormone receptor strikes me as a misnomer as there is no one receptor but rather two, named type I and type II. Thus I suppport the initial proposal as obvious and view it as uncontroversial. Regards, wbm1058 (talk) 21:07, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wbm1058: thanks for the ping; Artoria2e5 did indeed propose a merge in March 2019 with this edit on Anti-Müllerian hormone receptor and I did indeed forget to reverse the direction of the template when I placed the reciprocal template in March 2020. It does seem straightforward, but I though it worth tagging just to ensure all interested parties were aware of the proposal. I've tried looking around for information on the type 1 receptors, but there's not much on it, and key databases don't seem to list it (like the Guide to Pharmacology). So, it may be that the type 1 receptor isn't sufficiently well-characterized or validated for inclusion. In any case, having one page for now seems reasonable and that the broader title Anti-Müllerian hormone receptor is best so that both types can be discussed together (given that type 1 may not be sufficient well-characterized to justify a separate page).
