Legends

In Apex Legends, there are 8 Legends (characters), including

File:Apex
A picture of all of the legends
: BloodHound, Lifeline, Gibraltar, Wraith, Bangalore, Tox, Mirage, and Pathfinder.

I plan on adding a detailed description about each Legend's tactical ability, passive ability, and ultimate ability. This is definitely lacking in the article, and I feel it's essential to add. Bradley graul (talk) 20:04, 13 February 2019 (UTC)Bradley Graul

Please give a read to WP:VGSCOPE, please. We do not usually include detailed information on characters and their abilities, how to use or play them, etc. Anything that is included should be backed by reliable secondary sources. -- ferret (talk) 20:14, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
MOS is weird in this regard. What do you think would be the qualifying factor to include something? I mean, TF2 has a list and Overwatch has its own article. Not contesting your opinion, but trying to determine the line. Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 20:47, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
TF2 is probably more than this article should feature at this time. Overwatch has such widespread and in-depth coverage of its characters that a separate article is warranted. As always, due weight from sourcing/coverage is an element. For Apex at this time, I'd say no more than you see in Battlefield 1#Classes. -- ferret (talk) 20:52, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
Here's a thought. Let's come back in a month or so and determine its depth and breadth. Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 20:59, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
Certainly. Coverage can expand over time and due weight can shift. -- ferret (talk) 21:40, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
Hey gang I know it's only been a week, but I've been thinking. Let me know what If you think this could possibly fit into the article(This is just Bangalore's description, and I won't add descriptions without consent)In addition it's also on par with [[1]] and in accordance with WP:VGSCOPE. Bangalore- Passive Ability: While under fire player gets a boost of speed while sprinting. Tactical Ability: Fires smoke projectile that turns into 3 separate smoke grenades on impact. Ultimate Ability: Player calls in "Rolling Thunder" that carpet bombs designated area. I feel this isn't too detailed, but provides curious Wikipedians with an necessary game information.Bradley graul (talk) 02:27, 22 February 2019 (UTC)Bradley Graul

Marketing&Controversy

I think this and this is a notable factor to add to the article. At least as a mention, or more favorably, a separate section. What do you think? --► Sincerely: A¥×aᚢ Zaÿïþzaþ€(hail sithis!) 17:17, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Verge is reliable, don't think dexerto currently is considered. Either way its at most a single sentence, not a separate section. -- ferret (talk) 18:42, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Gameplay section - could do with work

Is it just me or is the gameplay section of this article unnecessarily long and detailed? Particularly as almost all of it is uncited.

I would like to cut it down to be far less detailed and to only included cited statements.

There are plenty of reliable sites to draw from with reviews which detail the gameplay. This would also ensure that the article emphasies what reliable sources consider to be noteworthy, rather than it just being someone's narrative description of how the game works.

Any objections?

Semi-protected edit request on 27 October 2020 — Evo Armor leveling correction

The description for Season 6 states, "All armor has been replaced with Evo shields which level up in tier when taking damage."

This is incorrect or misleading as these shields level up when causing damage to an enemy player.

A suggested edit would be: "All armor has been replaced with Evo shields which level up in tier when damaging other players."

The link below states this effect as "Gains strength when wearer inflicts damage." https://apexlegends.gamepedia.com/Gear#Evo_Shield 154.3.44.188 (talk) 14:02, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Except gold??? Apexmayhem (talk) 12:42, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

“Except gold???” If you are referring to gold armour not being able to be evolved into a stronger variant, it’s because of all gold items - armour included - having a special effect; in the case of gold armour, it’s the effect of shield cells and syringes being doubled. Having such an armour that can get stronger to the strength of the red Evo Shield (which is 125 armour/health) would make the choice between taking gold armour (when you actually find it) or red Evo armour irrelevant. Change at beginning

“...this [Wikipedia page] isn’t meant to be some sort of pro guide or anything of the sort.” Also, that’s not really how the lead section is used; it’s meant to be a summary of the entire page and having such details there is both unnecessary and out of place, and no, my mind on such additions won’t be changed if those details were actually added in the Gameplay section (also, you’d probably would run into the problem of actually having to find a reference that you think would work for what you want to add to the article). Adding Legends' brief description in their respective Characters section

While I suppose there isn't any real need for it, I just think since the section states the game has a "diverse" cast, having each character with their respective quirk mentioned could give a little more character to this section. The proposed change would look like such:

  • Bloodhound, the Technological Tracker
  • Gibraltar, the Shielded Fortress
  • Lifeline, the Combat Medic
  • Pathfinder, the Forward Scout
  • Wraith, the Interdimensional Skirmisher
  • Bangalore, the Professional Soldier
  • Caustic, the Toxic Trapper
  • Mirage, the Holographic Trickster
  • Octane, the Adrenaline Junkie
  • Wattson, the Static Defender
  • Crypto, the Surveillance Expert
  • Revenant, the Synthetic Nightmare
  • Loba, the High Society Thief
  • Rampart, the Quick Witted Modder
  • Horizon, the Gravitational Manipulator
  • Fuse, the Bombastic Explosives Expert

A potential downside of this is that it adds what is technically unnecessary data which makes this section slightly harder to skim through on a whim, but given that entire seasons with descriptions are also included on here, a short quip of the character should be permissible. Let me know what you think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Larcondos (talkcontribs) 19:24, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Comment It seems that while the original launch date was expected to be in 2022, development has sped up. While the game's beta version should begin testing within a few months, I haven't seen an official EA or Respawn announcement that the actual game will be released in 2021 so far. Additionally as a side note, Technically the mobile version isn't a port anymore, it's being classified as a seperate game, similar to League of Legends and it's mobile counterpart Wild Rift. In the description of the game's mechanics, please remove the part in which it says that players are rewarded in-game currency based on game performance. They may receive enough experience points to level them up and receive 600 Legend Tokens, but game performance does not directly reward a player with any of the game's three currencies. Replace the following section referring to forge (Top) with the following (Bottom) with the added sources, one being the original. The YouTube video in an of itself is technically a primary source therefore not as reliable unless paired with secondaries.

Respawn deceived their player base when they announced a character named Forge to be the season 4 Legend; he was killed by Revenant in the "Stories from the Outlands" video Up Close and Personal.[1]

During Season 3 a character named Forge, as well as fake abilities attributed to him, was found in the game's files by dataminers and speculated to be released as the season 4 Legend, however he was never intended to be playable and was created Respawn to deceived their playerbase,[2][3][4] When Forge was "Announced" he was killed by Revenant in the "Stories from the Outlands" video Up Close and Personal.[5]

During Season 3 a character named Forge was found in the game's files. It was an attempt by Respawn to misdirect data miners and was never intended to be playable.[1][2][3]. The character was killed by Revenant in the "Stories from the Outlands" video Up Close and Personal.[4]

What that person had added was completely different than what was posted above with cites. They wrote something about leaked characters and I removed it as that is nothing special. There are leaks every season. Maggie, the legend confirmed for next season, for example, was leaked like a season or two ago. Leaks are nothing in itself special.
