Device in photo[edit]

What is the palm device seen in the entry's photo? --72.202.150.92 02:18, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interestingly enough, it's referred to as a Goa'uld hand device in many episodes, and that has become its actual name. The Goa'uld hand device is a device of destruction, and can be used to either send people flying agross a room, or cause intense torture at close range. This is in contrast to a somewhat similar-looking device, known as a "Goa'uld healing device". Spazure 03:48, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Character genesis?[edit]

I'd like sound out of universe info on this character. Why was Apophis chosen as the main villian in SG-1? Were others considered? What was fan reaction to the character? --24.249.108.133 21:06, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apophis is the brother of Ra. Since Ra was the primary villain in the movie, and already killed, they wanted something that would tie-in to the prior storyline, while still leaving room for originality. This was mentioned somewhere in the Season 1 DVD set in the commentary, but I can't remember which one. As for the fan reaction to Apophis, I'll simply provide this: He's died (and been resurrected) more times than any other "big bad" in Stargate. He also stayed on the series for the longest number of seasons in a row. If this isn't a tribute to his popularity, I'm not sure what is! Spazure 00:18, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Apophis.jpg[edit]

Image:Apophis.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge[edit]

Well lets see here...He was the original primary antagonist for the first four seasons...he has significant relationships with a number of the characters in the fiction...He was one of the most used villains in the series...and one else think he isn't notable enough to retain his page? -- SFH (talk) 00:50, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The merge discussion takes place at Talk:Goa'uld characters in Stargate#Merger, which is also the link in the merge template ("Discuss"). My merge rationale is also there. – sgeureka t•c —Preceding comment was added at 01:36, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
