Disputed[edit]

I added the disputed tag because of this claim: "At 10 miles (16 km), it is the longest loop trail in Washington state...."

The source for this claim dates to 2006, so I thought I'd just quickly check it to be still valid, and found the Northern Loop Trail at 40 miles, and the Overland Loop Trail at 18.5 miles. I admit, I didn't look very hard at all, but it seems that this needs more investigation and checking before it should be featured on the main page of Wikipedia, via DYK. I think the claim refers to an urban, paved loop (which has been a fad among cities for 20 or so years). There's nothing comparable in Western Washington, as most trails are linear or discontinuous at best. The unpaved trail loops are definitely plentiful in the mountains, but really shouldn't count. Well these are two sources which state "loop trails" of longer lengths than that being claimed on the main page right now as being the longest. If there are various caveats that need to be added to the claim to make it factually accurate, that should be done as quickly as possible. @The Rambling Man: I wouldn't use a user-generated site like AllTrails as a source, and the NPS's trail is little more than a footpath instead of a developed, paved multi-use trail like this one. I would point out that this was the ALT1 hook and the original was what I had preferred. SounderBruce 08:42, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I've got no dog in the fight, other than finding sources which dispute the uncaveated claim currently sitting on the main page of Wikipedia right now. I suggest the hook is adjusted, moved to ALT1 or whatever, and the text in the article caveated accordingly so we can remove the dispute tag. This shouldn't have gone to the main page as-is I'm afraid. The Rambling Man (talk) 08:43, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
