Misinformation about Mini DisplayPort Compatibility[edit]

Thunderbolt Display officially REQUIRES thunderbolt-equipped mac! Dear author please fix that or proof MiniDP compatibility. Also NO third party (any-to-Thunderbolt) converters are available yet. The phrase about converters makes no sense.

I'll answer this (even though you forgot to sign your post: "4 x ~" please ;-). MDP runs concurrently with TB over the same connection, so AFAIK like the Cinema Displays before it, the Thunderbolt Display allows older machines with a DVI-out or VGA-out of some kind to use a DVI-to-MDP or VGA-to-MDP adaptor in order to use this monitor. Though if someone could confirm, that'd be useful. Jimthing (talk) 09:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thunderbolt port on the Mac is required per Thunderbolt Display spec page[1]. You can dig deeper and look for more sources that say Mini DP is not supported but the bottom line is that there is no support. --Bxj (talk) 12:30, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is fun. Abuse of standards. They use DP connector but DP is not supported? They use DP signaling but DP output is not supported... bollocks --Neikius (talk) 13:11, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Model number/Tech Spec's link[edit]

Don't know the Model Number yet, so if someone has one or knows it, please update. Also the Tech Specs page at http://support.apple.com/kb/ is not there yet, so left as placeholder until it soon gets added to the KB, and can then be immediately updated here. Thanks. Jimthing (talk) 05:12, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Apple just released the PDF manual (available in multiple languages, but can only link to one so chose US English version), and added a KB spec page too. So have added those links. Jimthing (talk) 06:40, 17 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notability/"Product Page policy" ?[edit]

I'm not calling for it's deletion, but does the Thunderbolt have anything that makes it particularly innovative? (some kind of compression with reference to the Thunderbolt, new type of liquid crystal that's faster, etc) I've seen edit wars on other talk pages regarding "speedy deletion" and don't care to get involved. IMO the better policy is just to learn not to try to "read the entire Wikipedia" as one might try to do with the Encyclopedia Britannica for instance.

Still, having "product pages" on WP IS useful if one wants a relatively organized place to go to find organized specs that are probably correct - as opposed to trying to find specs on some manufacturers website - uugh.) (talk) 16:16, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Mac mini[edit]

not sure why mac mini isn't in the list of multiple displays as I have 2 hooked up to mine and they work fine. Can't find technical reference to support this though so haven't added it. Rayman60 (talk) 03:21, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
