Differences with SaaS

It seems that many people keep on pressing for a merge with SaaS. I'm thinking that a a section ASP vs SaaS would be helpful. I would create it, but honestly I can't see the difference yet. --Langus (t) 10:27, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Agreed, they're very different things. The ASP model was not as successful as predicted, largely because multi-tenancy was not properly leveraged (ASPs typically deployed single-tenant solutions like Exchange with hacks to make them appear multi-tenant, or as separate single-tenant instances). -- samj inout 08:00, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

The distinction between SaaS and ASP needs to be sourced from an authority. ASP doesn't connote single tenant and SaaS doesn't connote multitenant. As an example, early email providers were considered to be ASPs. YMMV, which is why this needs to be sourced and would be better under the same umbrella as SaaS 205.196.167.54 (talk) 17:17, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
