Title and the subject of this page[edit]
Nowadays, the word "Arab" refers to peoples and ethnic groups who speak Arabic language, not someone who just traces his paternal ancestry to the Arabs of 1400 years ago. To refer to Sayyids of Pakistan as Arab, multiple reliable sources are needed (to show that Sayyids of Pakistan atre commonly reffered to as "Arab"). Alefbe (talk) 08:28, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. Someone who might have had a remote ancestor be Arab does not make him/her Arab. According to American race laws, someone who is 1/16th negroid is considered as black. Bythis definition the only Arabs in Pakistan are the immigrant or children of immigrant Arabs. Even those native Pakistani who boast of their Arab ancestry dont know a word of Arabic. LEGACY OF ARAB RULE Muhammad bin Qasim's conquest and subsequent 300 years of Arab rule in Sindh, Punjab and Baluchistan made deep impact in the culture of this region, prticularly that of Sindh. During the period of Arab rule a Hybrid culture developed and basic parameters of modern Sindhi society were established: 1. Strong foundations of Islamic religion and culture wre laid in Sindh - architecture, dress, food,social habits came under Arab/Islamic influence. 2. Sindhi language was enriched by words, phrases and similes from Arabic. 3. Written Sindhi employs Arabic script. 4. Wadera system emerged during Arab rule after Arab familis settled in Sindh acquired large landholings through State patronage. 5. Article full of false information - Pakistanis are not Arabs at all[edit]
Pakistanis are completely different to Arabs ethnically, culturally, geographically, racially, historically and linguistically. Arabs are from a completely different region. Pakistanis are South Asian Desis and are ethnically Punjabi, Pashtuns, Baloch, Rajputs and others. They are completely different from each other. This article is full of poorly written, unsourced, false information trying to relate them in some way. Blocking me for removing unsourced information does not help.
