Help

If anyone could help with this page especially with an intro please do so.

Rewrite of Article

I am in the process of overhauling this article. I think this page should contain a description of each of the major periods of construction in St. John's. I plan to divide them as follows:

  • Pre 1820
  • 1820 to the Great Fire of 1846
  • 1846 to the Great Fire of 1892
  • 1892 to Confederation (1949)
  • 1949 to 2000
  • 2000 to present

The only one of these dates that is not a clear boundary is 2000. I chose this date because it is around the start of the modern construction boom in St. John's (Mile One, The Rooms, Geo Centre, etc.). And because not many noteworthy buildings were built in the 1990s. If anyone has a better way of organizing this article please let me know.

Also, I think the list of buildings in St. John's should be under the article List of buildings in St. John's and not in this article. The same goes for the list of tallest buildings.

If you're going to be adding information you need to source it. Newfoundlander&Labradorian (talk) 00:51, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the input, it's good to see that I'm not the only one paying attention to this page. I got pulled away from editing before I had a chance to put in the references yesterday. The new additions should be properly sourced now. Thegoosler (talk) 14:55, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

"CIE Hall" in St. John's, Newfoundland

I have no idea what the CIE is in the Newfoundland context/ it appears to be a community or charitable organization hall; I took the picture out of architectural interest. "Commonwealth Institute of Engineers" maybe? "Committee of Irish Entrepreneurs"?? here's the image.Skookum1 (talk) 16:01, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
