Arrggghhh: The saga continues! A Mr. Dov Freedman (no-doubt another obsessed Jewish Nazi-hunter) has produced a documentary - yawn, claiming once more that this guy is still alive. It's to be aired on the BBC in the next week - called 'The last Nazis' or 'Dr Death' or something - YAWN, how original. Lol the guy would be 97!!!! If, by some miracle, he is still alive, he'll probably be senile, so what's the point of dredging all this up again? Oh, I forgot, statutes of limitations don't apply to Nazis - just everyone else. If Mr Freedman wants to find some war criminals maybe he should start looking in Israel. Anyone have a better picture?[edit]

I did a google image search and couldn't find a picture better than this one. A slightly higher quality image, preferably in his SS uniform would be great, relatively speaking.

Arrest warrant[edit]

"there is still a worldwide arrest warrant". No such thing exists. Does this refer to an Interpol Red Notice?

Without Anesthetic?[edit]

Could someone please post a reference that Heim operated without anesthesia? I have looked over the web and cannot find any documentation or records on this. This seems to contradict much of the previous information, so writing this article will be tricky in the meantime until stuff gets sorted out. For example, our article based on previous information said he ran a clinic in Uruguay from 1979 to 1983, but the new information appears to claim that he was in Egypt for that entire time. --Delirium (talk) 03:34, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline[edit]

He arrived in KZ Mauthausen in October 1941, went to an SS field hospital in Vienna, and by February 1942 he was in Finland. How much time did he spend in the camp and what were his activities?
The assertion that human fat was rendered into soap in the camps, which was later accepted to be a myth, distracts from the real events of this period. Is there any credible evidence that Aribert Heim had a lampshade made from human skin as is so often claimed? [1]

How was his death discovered?[edit]

The Times states that they found some briefcase in Cario with his personal papers, and interviewed neighbors (as well as his son). As for confirming his death, they have an Egyptian death certificate and his son's word. Is that enough? I dunno. As there are competing claims externally and in this Wiki article, regarding Heim's death, I am about to remove the claim about his death from the first section, and create a separate section called 'Supposed Death' which offers the different accounts of his death, with references. German state TV channel ZDF aired tonight a 45 minutes long documentary http://dokumentation.zdf.de/ZDFde/inhalt/16/0,1872,7512560,00.html?dr=1 showing the NYT and ZDF joined investigations on Heim's death (two journalists are filmed, a man and a woman). They talked and showed a lot of people claiming they knew him. These people state he has been buried in a mass cemetery. The doctor who administered him chemio for his cancer, his son (who released his first interview ever on the matter) and a couple of egyptian people who knew him, all said he died in 1992 in Cairo. An official death certificate issued by the Egypt authorities has also been shown on TV. The jurnalist states at the end of the documentary that he believes he really died in 1992. The German Prosecutor in charge stated in the documentary he are to conduct further investigations to find some rests and to carry a DNA test in order to check it is really him.

As I understand the DNA was still not confirmed. The reporter in that documentary and the court declared Dr. Heim dead based on several testimonies and documents only. Considering that Dr. Heim's fooled everyone about his true identity for most of his life, it should be taken into account that the testimonies as well as the documents have been attained by bribing and/or misleading witnesses and officials. Category:1992 deaths[edit]

I really don't feel strongly about this, but I wanted to point out that if the position of this article is that it is only an allegation that he died in 1992 (which seems a position consistent with what is known at this point), then the [Category:1992 deaths] tag should really be removed from the article, as that tag is only to be applied to confirmed deaths in that year.

Considering, as an example, the controversy around removing [Category:Living people] from the Natalee Holloway article years after no one had confirmation she was alive (i.e., lots of editors are very conservative when it comes to confirming deaths), I'd think we should take out the 1992 deaths category link from this article. I'd do it, but it seems somehow connected automatically to death data in the article. I don't see how to remove it as a separate tag.

Release by U.S. forces[edit]

According to a documentary I saw last night on TVOntario, Heim was released by U.S. authorities after WWII, even though he was an identifiable member of the SS. Photos available?[edit]

I noticed that photos of Heim have been removed from Wikipedia a number of times, and that there are several different ones viewable on Google, including the group of three photos on his 'wanted' poster, as seen here. What's occurred to cause the deletion of the Wikipedia photos? If the N.Y. Times has printed photos of Heim, then it stands to reason that those photos were either not under copyright, or were meant for public use. HarryZilber (talk) 02:26, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong photo[edit]

As already mentioned several times above the photo is wrong. It is not a photo of Aribert Heim but shows the Danish SS-officer Sören Kam who is still alive and on the Simon Wiesenthal Center's list of the ten most wanted Nazi-criminals. Both Aribert Heim and Søren Kam are on the SWC list but without photos, so a reference to that list would not solve the problem. The photo, however, is well known in Denmark where Søren Kam still is a much disputed person - especially these days where yet another book about the Søren Kam-affaire just has been published. The photo shows him on the occasion of being awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. It is part of a bigger photo showing that he also had been given the close combat clasp and the infantry assault badge - see here http://ditt.almanet.dk/waffenssalbum.1.html. This alone tells us that the photo cannot depict Aribert Heim who never got any of these decorations.Here is another site with two photos from the same occasion, among them one of Søren Kam sitting together with his father and the German Police- and SS-General Günther Pancke who handed over the Knights Cross. http://www.smartcms.dk/user/haaest/vis.php?side=sider2/udyr16-Ridderkorset.htm. To conclude: I am 100% sure that the photo shows Søren Kam and not Aribert Heim. The correct photo[edit]

There are two photos at London Evening side by side, one of Aribert Heim (left), and Soeren Kam (right), or at the bottom of my screen I believe. All of these "references" are websites from 2009 and later! I mean really, The Telegraph, in recent years, as "evidence" for such preposterous and exaggerated claims? This is simply not credible in this article. Is there no real evidence?

Main photo[edit]

Finding a picture of Aribert Heim that is of better quality appears to have been a topic of conversation over the years. I believe that while doing research for an English class, I have found a photo that would work well for the article’s main photo.

The photo is of Aribert Heim riding a horse while wearing his SS uniform. I have included a link to the online article that this picture is displayed on.

One thing I have not been able to figure out is how to find out if this photo is copyrighted, or who owns the copyright to this photo. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can find out who owns the copyright of this article? I recently sent an email to the legal department at Vice Media who published the article with the photo of Aribert, but I have not received a response to date.
