B-Class Assessment[edit]

I have assessed this against WP Zoo criteria. I just expanded all current citations to include work, publisher, date (where available) author (where available) and accessdate, so we are in good shape there. I think the only thing left is to compare against the Flora and fauna of Chennai article to make sure everything in its AAZP section is covered in the main article, and therefore that its AAZP section is a summary of the flora and fauna discussions of this article. I finished my best take on the aviary situation, which now agrees with the "Flora and fauna" article (which probably now needs some work). I keep expanding citations (and will continue to do so), but Rasnaboy seems to manage to keep ahead of me (which is probably a good thing). WikiProject Chennai COTM - Pending tasks as of 1-Oct-2012[edit]

Friends. Good to see that AAZP article has been chosen for Chennai Collaboration of the Month - October 2012. Here are some of the pending tasks in the article:

A clear map of the zoo, replacing the existing one (as in Parc des Félins (France) or Denver Zoo)
A logo of the zoo, if available
A citation for opening of the renovated entrance after the 2011 renovation (inaugurated by the CM on 19 June 2012)
The current status of the newly built tiger cage

I wish I had the time right now to create a zoo map like I did for the Denver Zoo. Maybe in a couple of weeks... I will help as I can, but I'm in release crunch mode at my day job right now. A few other items:

The article needs tightening up in general to eliminate extra verbiage. I will continue as I have time.
Units need to be converted. This is mostly done but I spotted a few more that I don't have time now to fix.
I have no idea what a "BOV charge" is (under Objectives, organisational structure, and revenue generation). This should be spelled out.
I removed hours of operation, which are generally not considered encyclopedic.
"16 toilets and nearly two dozen taps" - I'm not sure that the number of toilets is relevant. Also need to be clear what "taps" means. In the US, "tap" would probably be interpreted as "faucet". Are these "faucets" or "drinking fountains"? Perhaps "maintains toilets and drinking fountains throughout the park?"
Commas before the last "and" in a narrative list. Although technically not wrong, not including this comma can often make the meaning of a sentence ambiguous.

Errors in article[edit]

There are errors in the article. The first zoo in India is the Marble Palace Zoo in Kolkata, and the second zoo is the People's Park, Chennai, which has its own article. Are Arignar Anna Zoological Park and People's Park, Chennai the same? DSP2092 (👤, 🗨️) 04:20, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
