Statistics[edit]

The estimate of Armenians in Pakistan is believed to be anywhere from 5,000 to 40,000 as many newer migrant Armenians have arrived from neighbooring Iran and are passing themselves off as Parsi/Zorastrian or Bahai. Many of the Orthodox churches in Karachi are mostly full of Armenians. I think further research is required to get an accurate assessment as the Pakistani census does not officially include armenians in their list of options. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.119.46.97 (talk) 05:46, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even in the linguistic censuses and other data collected by Heinz Kloss there is no mention whatsoever of Armenian-speaking people in Pakistan. All sources say that most Pakistani Christians are converts from various other communities, nowhere there is any mention of Armenians. There are probably some, as in every country in the world, but not to the extent of justifying this article. There was an church in Lahore "used by Armenian Christian traders" under the Mughal Emperor Akbar, but this was the second half of the 16th century (Theodore P. C. Gabriel, Christian Citizens in an Islamic State: The Pakistan Experience, p.10). There are also Armenian refugees from Iran (Christian Van Gorder, Christianity in Persia and the Status of Non-Muslims in Iran, p. 230). --Minorities observer (talk) 19:44, 30 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
