Pronunciation[edit]

This town falls into the "often mispronounced" category. It should be pronounced "arrow-char" with the emphasis on the "arr" but people (whether Scots or not) often assume that the "ch" stands for the same sound that you get at the end of "loch". While that is true for most cases when "ch" appears in Scottish place-names, "Arrochar" is an exception. In this case the "ch" stands for the same sound that you get at the end of "which". -- Derek Ross | Talk 03:24, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia, you are wrong!!! The "ch" in Arrochar is NOT "ch" as in "which". Lived there, so i know. Sorry! It sounds very similar to the "ch" as in "loch" -- wrote someone who didn't sign with ~~~~
Errr... my name's "Derek", not "Wikipedia" but it's a fair cop. You're right. Good thing I didn't add it to the article. -- Derek Ross | Talk 03:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
