Photo[edit]

It is unlikely that's a photo of Artemus Ward, Jr., as it appears to be taken in the 1850s, nearly a decade after he died. Had he been alive he would have been in his nineties.--TrustTruth 14:27, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The picture appears to be of Charles Farrar Browne, who wrote under the pen name Artemas Ward. Take a look at the engraving, it looks like the same man. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Grhs76 (talkcontribs) 17:30, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the photo (probably taken in the 1860s, and probably Charles Farrar Browne). It just can't be this AW, Jr. because of the dates and the technology. It also can't be Artemas Ward (writer) a relative who was about aged 15 at this time. Smallbones (talk) 14:18, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This problem repeated itself, with a picture of Charles Farrar Browne (pen name "Artemus Ward") being used to illustrate this entry. I deleted it again.--MarvinKMooney (talk) 20:03, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
