Firstly, the conference is an annual event that has been held for a number of years. The majority of delegates are selected from international universities, and this page will assist these people in understanding what the event is. The conference is one of ANU's largest, and analogous to a number of other academic events including the World Business Dialogue, European Students Conference and Students of Sustainability conference, all of which have established wikipedia pages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Business_Dialogue, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Students_Conference, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Students_of_Sustainability)

Secondly, the conference is well regarded and notable within academic circles. Universities with strong Asian studies centres as well as Security colleges that focus on the Asia Pacific region would likely have some involvement with the event. While further independent sources relating to the conference could be found and would improve the article, the conference already has a social impact. A number of panels have been held in association with the ABC and have been broadcast nationally on TV.

Thirdly, the conference is significant politically and relates to the future direction of Australian foreign affairs. A number of high ranking Australian policymakers as well as former prime ministers have been involved with the event. Furthermore, policymakers including Ken Henry and Peter Drysdale, who have been invited to speak at previous conferences, are heavily involved with writing the Asian White Paper, which influences and shapes future government policy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moopt (talk • contribs) 11 December 2012 (UTC)
