World Cup Qualifiers: Israel in 1970?
Shouldn't Israel be mentioned as a qualifier for 1970? They were a member of AFC at that time. Yes, they've left AFC, but it seems to be revisionism to not at least mention them here. Chanheigeorge 22:13, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Shouldn't Australia be listed in1974? as they were a member of AFC at the time they were a member from 1972 to 1978 before rejoining OFC
I don't think Australia was a member of the AFC at the time, we were just not part of OFC, but we were not AFC members. Tancred 01:49, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
AFC Achievements
In relation to both 
Australia and 
Israel, shouldn't the "Totals" of team qulifying be limited to teams that qualified for a world cup as a member of the AFC, rather than that of current members (as it is at time of this comment). Is this page not here to display what the AFC was and is, rather than what was achieved under the label of another confederation. This would include adding Israel 1970 (with a note) and the removal of Australia 1974, 2006 (although also noted in some form). Although I am partially undecided on the matter myself, I just feel that the AFC is not being portrayed truthfully for what AFC teams (at the time) had achieved. I also believe that including Australia's achievements are taking away from what was an OFC achievement (one in which the OFC would take great pride in). What are your thoughts on the matter? I have edited this line, as most of the Asian ex-Soviet republics are in fact covered by the AFC.
A fuller discussion about the boundary between Asia and Europe can be found in the Wikipedia entry on Asia. The most commonly stated boundaries are the Urals, the Caucasus and the Bosphorus. There are a number of countries that fairly clearly straddle one of these boundaries: Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia. Kazakhstan is a less clear case, but I think it is possible to argue it has territory west of the Urals.
Going by this, the only Asian country that is not covered by the AFC is Israel. Ordinary Person 10:58, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Israel moving to UEFA?
Does anyone know how it came to be that Israel moved the UEFA? Never understood that. I think we should add a paragraph about it, if anyone knows a source. - CrazyRussian talk/email 20:30, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Basically, Israel moved to UEFA to get away from the Arab countries it was constantly at war with. Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq. They all, at one time or another, wanted Israel's destruction - which made it hard for Israel to be able to play against them peacefully - without accompanying riots occuring. jkm 22:22, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Shouldn't Australia be put down as an official member now?
- I would think so, Australia is a full-member of the AFC now. Not sure if they are technically a full-member of ASEAN though...Batobatobato 05:44, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Cyprus and Asia?
'The 46 member Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of football in Asia, excluding Cyprus and Israel, and including Australia.' I'm sorry; but Cyprus in Europe and member of UEFA. League Ranking
First of all, there is no formal method to rank national leagues anywhere in the world. There will be many arguments. We can rank them based on the clubs performance in the continental level of competition, but in another way we can see it by the competitiveness level, professionalism level, etc. In this case, we need to put more than one source. In this article, we had the ranking system conducted by the AFC (for their competitions' qualifications), but it was removed for no reason, and changed with the IFFHS version. We should look at this very careful, since according to IFFHS, the Brazilian League is better than Italian league. Guybrush1979 (talk) 02:31, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
Chinese Taipei as founding member
How can Chinese Taipei be considered a founding member of the AFC if their association entered a year after the formation of the AFC? Someone should explain this, and fix the article if there's a mistake here. Ipsumesse (talk) 08:47, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Color change
Australia and Israel did not participate in the world cup as members of afc in the certain time periods on the chart. These should not be in red. Red is used only for banned countries.J4lambert (talk) 02:32, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

- @Superawesomee:Quite likely someone getting their confederations wrong. I'd say they should be removed. By the way, why use a (rather poor) IFFHS' ranking, doesn't the AFC has any? Added a List of the Men's National Team rankings of FIFA

- You will find it in the members list in the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) section, under "Korea DPR", as the country and FA is recognised as that. "North Korea" is its colloquial name.--2nyte (talk) 04:14, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Asian Icons
The "Asian Icons" section doesn't have any explanation of what it is or the criteria for inclusion. As far as I can tell, it was a feature on AFC's website, purely for entertainment/casual reading, not really as official as the Hall of Fame. I propose deleting it. 1974 AFC Vote to Exclude Israel
Has anyone found the breakdown of which nations voted to exclude Israel, which nations voted against Kuwait's motion, and which abstained? The best information I could find was a book by Robert Wiesbord, "Racism at the Olympics", explaining that when AFC expanded--adding nations including UAE, China, DPRK, Qatar, and Bangladesh--it tipped the scales in favor of expulsion. A roll call of which delegates voted in which way would be edifying.
