Removal of list of names[edit]

I removed the long list of names of past presidents and those on the council. Not only were the names not notable, it's information very few people would be looking for on an article of this subject, and it's better presented and found on the organization's own website. Trying to make the article look nicer and two full pages of scrolling to get through a list of unimportant names is just one of those ways. Let me know if you disagree and I'll be happy to revert my edits if a good reason is stated! SEMMENDINGER (talk) 03:33, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore[edit]

Those lists are there for two reasons:

  1. The information is hard to find elsewhere. It was a lot of work to find and verify them.
  2. This page is modeled on that of some of the other divisions of ALA.

As one of the Past Presidents (note Conflict of Interest), I have regularly sought this information, and that of other Divisions of ALA. Michael Golrick (talk) 03:13, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Dissolution[edit]

The ALA plans to dissolve ASGCLA as a division, effective September 1, 2020. I've added that information to the article, but the article will need to be rewritten after that takes effect to reflect the fact this this will no longer be an active organization. As the original author - and one of the people who is actively involved in the dissolution as a Board member (conflict of interest), I will deal with this. Likely the revisions will include a paragraph indicating where the current activities of the division have been re-distributed within the larger organization (American Library Association). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mgolrick (talkcontribs) 13:36, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
