Sort key for DEFAULTSORT and listas= parameters[edit]
The existing sort key currently used for this article is "Matthews, Aston". However, this artist uses the stage name of "Aston Matthews", while his full name is "Matthew Lopez". The consequence of using this sort key is that this article will be collated under this artist's first name, "Matthew", rather than his surname, "Lopez". The sources cited in the article seem to consistently use the artist's full stage name or a stylized version of it. It is unclear how sources consider this artist's stage name and whether they regard it as a separate alias or merely a stage name; especially considering the artist has incorporated his first birth name into the stage name as if it was a surname. The name sorting guidelines suggest that where an article title is not "Forename Surname", then the article should be collated by the title of the article. which means the sort key could be changed to "Aston Matthews". However, due to the similarity of the stage name with an alias name of the form "Forename Surname", I am uncertain if making the change is a good idea, so would like to understand the opinions of others before making a change to the sort key. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 03:38, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
