"And since the Atari 7800 is backwards compatible, the XG-1 also works on the Atari 2600."[edit]

The reasoning in that sentence is not correct. If it were, everything that works with the Atari 7800 could be played on Atari 2600s as well, which is obviously false.--217.232.226.236 (talk) 12:26, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GNG, Atari 2600 compatibility[edit]

I've added a couple of refs to the article to get it over GNG at least. Probably a more detailed GBooks search might turn up as well, but a quick search on the internet archive turned up at least those two refs. However, if at some point this is taken to AFD let this comment stand as a "Keep or, if not keep, merge to Atari XEGS" !vote. Regarding compatibility with the Atari 2600, see Sentinel - the light-gun was clearly compatible with the Atari 2600 otherwise that game would never have been released. @Smuckola - do you think we've covered off WP:GNG with the latest sources or shall we leave the notice up? FOARP (talk) 12:23, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
