MILHIST assessment[edit]

This article is a good start on the subject but suffers from a number of issues, as tagged on the article page. In particular, it needs work on referencing. This is not exactly a subject lacking in modern interpretations and this should be reflected in the text. The works of Victor Davis Hanson or Hans van Wees on Greek warfare would be a good place to start. Wikilinking also seems to have been abandoned after the first couple of sections.Monstrelet (talk) 08:24, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't see these notes but did you include the issues of training and recruitment? was it all volunteer or was there conscription? Thanks

Article Name[edit]

Shouldn't the name be "Athenian miltary" instead? Army is only on land, but this article includes the navy. I'm going to change it.WiHkibew (talk) 05:02, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it now. If you want to change it, first please state why on here and try to get someone (preferably me) to confirm. WiHkibew (talk) added 05:25, 10 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removed sentence[edit]

I cut this from the article "These people in the Athenian Military often fought with swords covered in the hair of dogs." It doesn't seem to have a source but seemed specific enought that I didn't want to delete it outright.Yojimbo1941 (talk) 18:47, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Equipment of the hoplites.[edit]

I haven't read the linked book yet, but I frankly doubt that hoplites in the Ancient Athenian Army we're equipped with M16 and Glock-17. Still I'm gonna remove it either way Eemmssii (talk) 06:32, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
