No medals awarded[edit]

Hi @Malto15: In the article you refer to medals "awarded but not counted". Which events are you referring to here? For example, in the Women's 4 x 400 metres relay (you can see the race on the "Day 10 Highlights" via YouTube) the fourth PNG team member ran off the track. That's a DQ, and when you look at the Full Results from Oceania Athletics (see page 5) there is no placing awarded to PNG for the event and an 'X' marked against the time. Also, on the Van2017 list of athletics medals awarded there is no bronze listed for PNG. 103.81.126.27 (talk) 18:06, 20 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Events where medals awarded but not counted[edit]

Hi, there are only three events where medals were awarded but not counted on both the athletics medal table and the overall games medal table. Firstly I would like to clarify the women's 4 × 400 metres relay results (seen on the "Day 10 Highlights" via YouTube) yes the the fourth runner did run off track but there were no disqualification because Fiji's third runner did not move out of the inside lanes (mainly 1-4) which she was supposed to, to allow room for the teams behind to run their next leg. This resulted with the PNG runner having to run outside the track (left) to avoid collision with the Vanuatu runner who ran to the right. It was later seen on the Day 10 highlights with PNG being awarded the bronze medal.

Now, the three medals awarded but not counted are (2nd place, silver medalist(s) Jeannette Wacapo New Caledonia - 100m hurdles), (3rd place, bronze medalist(s) Lisbeth Kalopong Vanuatu - 400m hurdles), and (3rd place, bronze medalist(s) PNG women's 4×400 relay team Papua New Guinea). These medals were not counted because there were only 3 entries for the 400m relay and 400m hurdles and only 2 entries for the 100m hurdles. Therefore, the athletes who were last in any of this events will not have their medal(s) counted. That is why when you look at the Full Results from Oceania Athletics there is no placing awarded but the results are provided and also via YouTube on the highlights you will see the athletes be awarded the medals.(Malto15 (talk) 04:08, 22 December 2017 (UTC))[reply]
