Gender[edit]

Is it accurate to refer to Robo as an "it" in the article? In the comic, Robo clearly self-identifies as male and is referred to by other characters as a "he" or "him". Co-creators Clevinger and Wegener also refer to Robo by male pronouns in their respective blogs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.175.201.127 (talk) 01:04, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wegener's a friend of mine. If I remember him correctly, Robo is male and therefore...a he. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.132.39 (talk) 17:21, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion to Wiki[edit]

Should we set up a wiki for the Robo universe? Brian Clevinger has already displayed an interest in having one. But, in his own words: "Except that I’m too stupid to install one. This should come as a surprise to no one."

So, do we go foreward with his wishes? From what I've already seen of the series, and from Brian's own boasting, having a wiki will help enormously for the organization of the whole, reinvented 80+ years of alternate history that will be coming our way. It will be easier on us all if we get started on that before it becomes big enough to justify having its own wiki(and believe me, it will!), but an already large enough mass of information to make such an endevour a serious undertaking.

Any objections? Schizophrenic wispers 01:50, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Go for it. Wikia makes such things straightforward. I would recommend dropping someone on the Atomic Robo site a note though as I think they'd probably want to make it official. Installing Mediawiki is also pretty straightforward and their site runs on PHP so it might be they'd want do it on their site and as someone must have installed what is there already they can probably do the technical work - which would make life simpler as you'd just need to be volunteering effort and wiki-expertise. Clean up[edit]

I culled a lot of the links, since it is only a small article so there's no need to swamp it. I removed this link [1] which was being used to reference an early appearance of the character, since I feel this is original research. We can't know that is the same character, simply because they share a name. I've stripped out a lot of the primary source repetition, there is no need to have a rather large quotation, especially without a source. I also qualified the Eisner awards information, noting that both nominees lost. I've change dthe lead to make the article about the series, since it is the series which has garnered award nominations, not the character. I've posted the interview links below in case they help in fleshing out the article. Hiding T 18:40, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Interviews[edit]

Importance[edit]

Might be a good idea to rerate this on the importance scale sometime - since it's been rated, it's been nominated for an Eisner and is apparently selling fairly well. 68.166.172.170 (talk) 22:02, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Issue Synopses[edit]

Would it be worth adding synopses for each of the Atomic Robo issues? Banjaloupe (talk) 07:10, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No - issue by issue breakdowns leave the article too plot heavy which run counter to guidelines like WP:PLOT and WP:WAF.
Better would be if people took things like the interviews given above and worked on an expanded publication history with things like character development. There are also quite a few reviews around and it would be straightforward to create a reception section. Those are the directions the article should be expanding. References Help[edit]

I added some references for the content I added yesterday, as well as for some things in the intro paragraph, however, I cannot figure out how to format the references such that they link to the source, but also display the quote from the page that I'm using (for instance, I referenced a comic book page to show Robo's jokes, however it seems like a good idea to transcribe the joke in the reference itself). I tried using Wikipedia:Verification_methods as a guide but none of those seemed to be what I was trying to accomplish. Banjaloupe (talk) 00:54, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not 100% sure I fully understand but you can add links and text between the "ref" - see the example of the Newsarama reference that is in the page. If I've misunderstood then let me know and I'll have another stab at it. (Emperor (talk) 02:06, 8 December 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Carl Sagan[edit]

Carl Sagan appears as a character in this comic; want to mention that? 66.241.130.86 (talk) 18:26, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Volume 4[edit]

Added the volume 4 tpb in the main body and info box. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Monksp the sane (talkcontribs) 00:59, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

writer Brian Clevinger and artist Scott Wegener[edit]

Don't i remember reading somewhere that writer Brian Clevinger and artist Scott Wegener based two characters (incompetent employees of Robo's, debuting in Volume 3) on themselves? Is that worth noting (and if so, on which page), or just trivia?
