February 2017 edits by FriendsOfTheParksOfAustin[edit]

@FriendsOfTheParksOfAustin: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Your recent edits added some historical information about the funding and construction of the park that could really improve this article's coverage, and I'd love to see it become a permanent part of the article. You didn't include any sources to verify the reliability of that history, however, and Wikipedia strives to only include verifiable information.

More problematically, the section you added included outright attacks on living persons expressed as facts, and Wikipedia has a very strict policy on coverage of living persons in its articles that requires thorough sourcing of all potentially controversial claims, strict adherence to a neutral point of view, and non-inclusion of any personal opinions or original research by the editor. If there are published independent sources that make those same accusations toward past city managers and the Convention Center Department, then they could be used to support the inclusion of some of that material, but the style would have to be more like "Some watchdogs accused these people of doing these things (source)," rather than "These people did these things."

Looking forward to seeing the sources you used to write this content so that the article can be improved! -Bryanrutherford0 (talk) 22:11, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In development, my original submission included 20 links to on-line, official or journalistic documents substantiating almost every statement in the posting. Some technical communications failure prevented the document from being submitted. I chose to re-submit the text only and follow on later (today) with the markups incrementally, rather than risk losing several hours work in the editor again. Stay tuned, and please forgive my newbie missteps. ---- FriendsOfTheParksOfAustin

@Bryanrutherford0 and FriendsOfTheParksOfAustin: I agree this section needs major cleanup. I tried to split it into two subsections but can't figure out how this is organized. epicgenius (talk) 19:52, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
