Highest Peak[edit]

Refering to Wikipedia Francais, I found that the highest peak is Djebel Chelia (pronounced Shelia). The local name is "Kaltum". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Josef.b (talkcontribs).

What do you mean? This is not very convincing. —innotata 17:38, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose No evidence has been produced that this is the usual name in reliable English sources. Skinsmoke (talk) 20:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Britannica[1] and M-W[2] both use Aurès.--Atemperman (talk) 17:23, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Original poster wrote on my talk page:

I'm Aures habitant, i would like to tell you that the name Aurès is the french pronounciation of the original name so even in french resources you can find "Aures", the original name is Awres or Awras, so in wikipedia (English) i think we should take by concideration the Original name not french as original. You can check my site photographs about Aures : at GTPhotography. Ghezaltar (talk) 10:14, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(use_English). Thanks. --Atemperman (talk) 18:21, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aures ![edit]

The è is french letter, the name was published because of french sudies, here localy we call it Awras or Awres as the original name. So i think that in Wikipedia (in English) the name should be adapted for english from the original name, not from french.

French accents are used in Algeria, aren't they. Maps use this spelling, as do dictionaries. And please include comments on this under the requested move heading. —innotata 13:45, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
