Demographics[edit]

I have found that the Demographics are greater tehn 100%. According to what I know about stat. this should not happen when given a sample of people. --User:Designdroide

United States demographics figures can often add to greater than 100% when Hispanic residents are properly counted, because US census classification "Hispanic" includes individuals of any race. This actually results in a more accurate census; the Census 2000 site should have more info on this. Ucbuffalo81 00:21, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, no, no, still wrong, it has 68% White, 42% Black (no way it is that high) and then a bunch of other races. The Demographics are very wrong. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.237.56.29 (talk) 08:40, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Needs a little work[edit]

I'm hoping that some experienced editors out there can help me make this article a little more informative and pleasant for the reader. I acknowledge that Aurora is largely a bedroom community, but the city also has over 300,000 people, making it a pretty large city in its own right. I would appreciate anyone who can help me bring this article up to standards by adding photos, keeping demographics updated, and addressing any current events that are relevant to the article. One that comes to mind is the effort to consolidate into a City-County Government, which is only a short blurb in the current article. Does anyone know if the efforts have been revived, or did the voters strike it down again?--Mustang1966 (talk) 16:21, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How about Scott "Cactus" Moser, went to Aurora Central. Famous drummer. How about Tom Chambers, basketball player, also went to Aurora Central for awhile. I was in school with both of them in the 70's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.102.25.130 (talk) 01:13, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Aurora, Colorado[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Aurora, Colorado's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "census.gov":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 07:08, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

weather[edit]

I can't seem to find any info on the the weather conditions in Aurora, why is that? Am i missing something somewhere on the website?

Batman incident[edit]

12 people killed, at least 50 wounded I think it should be added to the article a link to a separate article with more coverage should be provided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.58.143.106 (talk) 15:16, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Structure[edit]

Hi. I'm going through all the US Cities (as per List of United States cities by population) in an effort to provide some uniformity in structure. Anyone have an issue with me restructuring this article as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. I won't be changing any content, merely the order. Occasionally, I will also move a picture just to clean up spacing issues. I've already gone through the top 20 or so on the above list, if you'd like to see how they turned out. Thoughts? Explanation of coordinates changes[edit]

Re: this edit

  • The Census Bureau reference given for the coordinates is an entry page that requires a search. I searched for Aurora, Colorado and found no coordinates there. While they may be found elsewhere on that site, this is not good verifiability. Where possible, we need to link to a specific page that contains the information.
  • GNIS provides a specific page we can link to, and it shows coordinates. Actually it shows four sets of coordinates, from four different maps.
  • I took the first set of coordinates from that page, which give a location close to the "Aurora" name marker in Google Maps.
  • I reduced the coordinates precision, per WP:OPCOORD, using a ballpark object size of 16mi/25km. Aurora covers a big area.
  • Since {{Infobox settlement}} does not support coordinates in the "dm" format (without seconds), I switched to the decimal format.
  • I cited the GNIS source in the body and removed the citation from the infobox. Citations are not needed in the infobox for information cited in the body. ―Mandruss  09:54, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Re-ranking after Orlando[edit]

I'm reverting this. I don't think we systematically re-rank all such mass killings every time a new one occurs. If we don't re-rank all of them, it's confusing and misleading to re-rank any of them. Unless otherwise stated, readers should assume "at that time". ―Mandruss  22:42, 28 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
