Article title[edit]

Although "Universidad Austral de Chile" translates more directly to "Southern University of Chile", would a better translation to English be "University of Southern Chile", in keeping in line with the more standard "University of X"? Awickert (talk) 16:52, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I found that there are 5 times as many Google hits for "University of Southern Chile" as there are for "Southern University of Chile", and that those for "University of Southern Chile" were all of a much higher quality (many more links to research and work, as opposed to automatically-generated pages). However, on Google Scholar there are 23 hits for S. Univ. Chile as opposed to 6 for Univ. S. Chile. Anyone have any useful ideas about how to proceed, or is this too unimportant? Agree (only if you fix the redirects). Go ahead, the title of Southern University of Chile is not good. Note that in the univeristy's english homepage [1] they do not use any english version for the univeristy name but do use the spanish shortname UACh. What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request
