It's difficult to give an exact number of competitors at these Paralympics, Australian or otherwise. There are various numbers given for the total number of competitors ranging from 1080 in newspaper down to the 926 registered competitors on the IPC website. Discrepancies are likely caused by unnamed athletes competing in team events and registered athletes who later failed to compete. I went with Brittain's number because he seems as much an expert as anyone. The IPC database gives a total of 37 Australian athletes and this is a count of their list. However the list seems to includes two entries for each Eric Magennis, Terry Mason and Elaine Schreiber. Furthermore an entry under Fonta is likely Frank Ponta, and the men's table tennis team which is listed as Millan and Richard is believed to be McMillan and Rickard.(Discussed in HoPAu correspondence) This leaves 31 names, the 31st name being Smith, competing in the men's archery team. Is it possible they allowed Pam Smith to compete on the men's team for that event? The IPC database also does not contain the names of the Australian women's table tennis team and we could not find their names in other sources. There was also a list of support staff with no reference provided. We couldn't find any source for these names.

Team support (incomplete):
- Mike Watson (Manager)
- Kevin Betts (Coach)
- Keith Sherwan (Escort)
- Nadine Mather-Brown (Nurse)
- Don Perriman (Physiotherapist)
- Donald Worley (Photographer)
