Johnny Logan and other Australian participants[edit]

I think it would be appropriate to mention Australians taking part under banners of other countries in Eurovision throughout Eurovision history. Very notably Johnny Logan, an Australian born in Frankston, Victoria, Australia, has won for Ireland multiple times. This is significant. There may be others as well. A case in point is this year's participant, the Australian Mary-Jean O'Doherty Basmadjian, an Australian opera singer part of Armenian entrant Genealogy (band). werldwayd (talk) 12:45, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incidental participation[edit]

I disagree with the blanket removal of this section listing several interesting and notable instances where Australians (and related to Australia) were involved with the contest prior, during, and after, to Australia's official involvement. This information is wikilinked, referenced, and notable, having been mentioned in official histories and commentary. Given Australia's complicated history with the contest, I would argue that this list is important to help understand why Australia is involved, and why Australia has had a long interest in the contest. Complete blanket removal loses a lot of historical context relating to Australia and Eurovision as a result.Siegfried Nugent (talk) 02:49, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
