Merger proposal[edit]

Silly to have two articles on virtually identical aircraft!!!--Petebutt (talk) 06:08, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is a history here. The article was originally at AutoGyro Calidus, but was solely about the UK-modified version, not the German base model. Then an editor moved that article to RotorSport UK Calidus, causing AutoGyro Calidus to become a redirect. I wrote a fresh article on the AutoGyro Calidus and made links in both articles to each other. Certainly the RotorSport UK Calidus could be merged into AutoGyro Calidus as a variant, or it could be left as a separate variant article. I think the key determinant should be just how modified it is, but I haven't been able to find that out, even the CAA approval doesn't list the changes, although it does list RotorSport UK as the manufacturer, not merely as importer. If the changes are just a few placards or similar documentary changes then, sure, it should be merged. If the changes are some actual and substantial physical changes to the aircraft then the two articles could remain separate, particularly if over time the two designs diverge. The RotorSport UK website doesn't spell out the changes, either. I don't have the information to make that determination at the present. - Ahunt (talk) 11:34, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It has now been a week since this discussion was opened. Since both articles link to and explain each other, both are in the nav box as well and there are no more comments I think we can close it as "no consensus to merge". If future information comes to light to indicate how similar or different these two aircraft are then perhaps we can revisit this issue. - Ahunt (talk) 14:10, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
