Added "Autoland Systems"[edit]

Added a section on the aircraft systems part of an autoland. Brian (ZazenCID 14:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Added some background on the history of autoland development. This is based on my own participation in the development programmes initially as a new First Officer on the Trident from 1965, shortly after its introduction, then later as a Captain on the same type. I also spent many years as a representative of the British and then International airline pilots associations at various flight operations technical forums, and as a project pilot for British Airways flight ops management. The First Autolanding[edit]

There was an article posted by Air & Space Smithsonian Magazine, in which they claim the first test of an autoland system was in 1935, and was done under military auspices.

Needs more References[edit]

This article has very few references, particularly in the whole of the History and Systems sections, the first half of the Description section and the Preface, where there are none, yet many details are given for limits and other information.

The Systems section was marked as unreferenced in 2011, 12 years ago and the History section was marked as unreferenced in 2017, 6 years ago, yet no references have been added. Lkingscott (talk) 17:21, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
