"French pronunciation"[edit]

I think the alleged "French pronunciation" of the name given here is wrong. Please, whoever added it, cite some sources, or I'll delete it soon. Christomir (talk) 22:47, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, no one replied so I'm changing it to what I believe is the correct pronunciation (I decided to do that, rather than delete it). But if someone knows better than me, please, change it and add your sources, or if you don't have any, delete it completely this time. Thanks. Christomir (talk) 15:18, 14 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't see you there, tho a simple bit a research was enough:

I live in the area and ski there frequently. I have only ever heard the four syllable pronunciation [avoʁija] (or, rarely, the spelling pronunciation [avoʁijas]) in French. The three syllable pronunciation is patois (i.e. Franco-Provançal) only. Berndf (talk) 19:40, 20 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"...built on a book..."?[edit]

In the first paragraph, it reads "Avoriaz is built on a book high above the town of Morzine..." Damned if I can figure out what that's supposed to mean. Anyone know? Bricology (talk) 07:19, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was "shelf", which makes more sense, it was changed in the revision on this date: 17:35, 21 January 2013‎ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.148.40.98 (talk)
