Gel glacier[edit]

What is a "gel glacier", referred to in the current version of this article? Google doesn't seem to be able to find an answer. --Deskford (talk) 23:49, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Answer, after a bit more research: I think it's a mis-translation of the Icelandic hlaupjökull, presumably meaning the same as jökulhlaup. --Deskford (talk) 00:14, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reworded the article according to the above assumption, but I can't find any reference to confirm that this mountain (or an associated glacier) exhibits the phenomenon. I've added a bit about the valley in which the flooding glacier is claimed to lie, from the Icelandic Wikipedia article, but still not found any valid references. I'm a little concerned by the fact that the list of mountains on the National Land Survey of Iceland website doesn't mention this mountain, even though it lists some at below the quoted height of 1091m. The article on the Icelandic Wikipedia is also recently created and doesn't cite any references. Another website lists Búrfellshyrna as a "peak" as distict from a "mountain", and also lists the claimed nearby towns Búrfell and Hæringsstaðir merely as "farms".
