The BARS system was purchased by a ret. general of the US Army, who befriended russians during arms reduction treaty talks. He had the hardware shipped to USA, added precise digital process controls to increase yields and re-purposed the system to produce "affordable" yellow diamonds for jewellery use as Gemesis Inc. Each synthetized stone is laser micro-engraved as "cultured diamond s/n 12345678". The jewish jeweller lobby are apparently happy about the development, since natural yellow dimonds are rare enough to be little known and thus not particularly desired in the market but the emergence of many "cultured" yellow gems raised awareness and now natural stones sell at a steep premium.
