Hours[edit]

Think that "Overall the division produces over 70% of the BBC's domestic television and radio output" needs tweaking as the ref says "71% of the BBC’s domestic output hours are produced by the BBC English Regions" - so that the hour or so of daily opt-outs may be multiplied by the number of regions doing it, resulting in an inflated percentage. Does anyone know if it's airtime or output? Zir 08:34, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isle of Man and the CI[edit]

This article makes no mention of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands and fails to explain why these non-English (and non-UK) nations are covered by BBC English regions. Should be added to the text to make clear that although not part of the UK these islands receive UK television and pay UK license fees.--37.182.164.163 (talk) 23:03, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Move to 'BBC England'[edit]

BBC English Regions was renamed in 2015/16 to BBC England, while the function of the department is the same the network production side was removed and it was aligned with News and Current Affairs (NP moved to BBC Studios).

I can't find any formal reference to acknowledge the change other than some references within BBC PDFs to 'BBC England' and most staff's LinkedIn pages now reflecting this.

Can this be moved to 'BBC England' as I've done some quick edits to update the content. MW5730 (talk) 15:27, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - Sources are needed to verify this change and proposed move. Even if not great, the sources you mentioned are better than none. But I have struggled to find sources that clearly state the change.
I have seen "BBC England" used[1][2][3] but also seen "BBC English regions" still used,[4][5][6][7] so not sure if the latter is an error or that "BBC England" and "BBC English Regions" are two different operations. Both are used in the BBC's annual report, although the one mention of "BBC English Regions" was only used for finances.[8] Sometimes the term "BBC England TV" is used,[9] not sure if this is a separate operation. And considering BBC News has rebranded English services into "BBC News England" (which is now where bbc.co.uk/england redirects to, formerly being for BBC English Regions with logo and all), not sure what the journalist strikes of "BBC England" refers to. [10]
Plus there is no "BBC England" alongside the other nations for some reason which is not helping.[11][12] Even though there is a logo for BBC England, although with the old BBC logo.
The only source I find that links the two is the role's name change, but that does not go into detail on the network itself.[13]
So while there is some "BBC England" I do not find a source aside the role change, that links the two together, even one (better from the Beeb) would be fine. So please provide a source. Happy to be disproven. And would support a move if sources clearly state it had its name changed. Many thanks. DankJae 21:37, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
