It should really be BBC London. Therefore we should move the detail from BBC London News but keep what is already at BBC London.Wikiwoohoo 21:01, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Linked Articles[edit]

The news reporters are linked to their own individual pages from this article. After a look through the articles are similar and there is inconsitency with a lack of articles for other reporters. Therefore I propose that a seperate article be created entitled 'BBC London Reporters' or something to that affect. Any objections to this please post in the immediate future and I will bring about this change, if no objections, in c.1 week --W022a 17:39, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is quite a good idea but maybe it would be better as List of BBC London Presenters and Reporters if put into effect. This would then mean small articles that are currently stubs could be merged into that instead, though individual articles on presenters/reporters are added to the BBC newsreaders and journalists category which makes them easy to get to. Your idea is good though and can be added to. Wikiwoohoo 14:06, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are you hereby suggesting that we keep the current articles however we create another that has all the articles contents within the individual stubs or redirects from stubs names to the combined article? --W022a 18:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was suggesting that where biographical articles are small stubs, they be deleted but only after the content is moved to the list article I suggested. Larger biographical articles should be left untouched, though a summary of the content should be entered for each journalist's section. How does that sound? Wikiwoohoo 19:15, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me! I have had a go at creating the new combined article, located through the link above. It is by no meants perfect and you may wish to adjust/tweak the article [if keeping it] before removing individual articles. A few points you may wish to clarify withing the article first are: - Any forgotten presenters - A picture next to the contents, the area looks very bland! - The names of the two traffic & travel girls. Cheers --W022a 15:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've got off to a good start! I'll make improvements and add content soon. If you'd like to know the names of the presenters such as those doing traffic reports, you can check the BBC London website or take a look at the BBC London section at TV Newsroom Wikiwoohoo 19:05, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have spent last hour making some modifications. I think all the details on the presenters are there, with the exception of Victoria Hollins whose details are unlocatable! Neither links give any description of the reporters, thus I intend to make notes whilst watching the show as to provide a list with descriptions of the articles they cover, perhaps put the list under just one section as no individual details can be found - nor are they as valuable as those of the presenters W022a 12:04, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Radio programming[edit]

I've just added a new sub-head on radio programming, but the headings/su-headings could do with be broken up in a slightly more common sense way: ie TV news, radio music/news and so on. 'Radio programming' is worth its own section as it's a 24 hour rolling stationand I hope other eds will add to it. Any thoughts? Escaper7 13:55, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LDN[edit]

"The programme's original title was BBC LDN, perhaps a too-clever attempt by BBC insiders to foster the tri-media identity by applying the abbreviated ident for BBC London 94.9 which appears on the displays of RDS-equipped FM radios."

It has been noted elsewhere that LDN is "text speak" for London. AdorableRuffian 22:00, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Home of BBC London[edit]

Is BBC London located in Television Centre? -Paolo-210.5.105.36 04:36, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No Marylebone High Street in London's West End, prior to that it was based at the BBC's Elstree centre (actually in Borehamwood), Hertfordshire. Escaper7 05:27, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article split[edit]

I suggest. This Article Shall Split Unto BBC London And BBC London (television news)--JSH-alive talk to mesee my worksmail to me 08:40, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Wikiwoohoo 16:26, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just seized the initiative. There is now the following:

  • This article, dealing with the region itself.
  • BBC London News - dealing with, evidently, BBC London News (previously a redirect to here).
  • BBC London 94.9 - the article for the radio station, exactly the same as it was before.
  • BBC London (disambiguation) - a new article linking to all of the above.

BBC London News within BBC Breakfast[edit]

" BBC London News can be viewed throughout the UK during BBC Breakfast and on the BBC News Channel at 6:28, 6:58, 7:28 and 7:58."

Is this statement correct? I live within the BBC East region and get BBC East news during BBC Breakfast.

I know technically I could receive BBC London News if I chose to watch the BBC London version of BBC1 on my Sky box, but the statement above seems to imply that analogue / digital terrestrial viewers see BBC London News regardless of where they live....

Any other wikipedians out there care to clarify which version they receive?ColourSarge (talk) 16:59, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
