WDF World Darts Championship[edit]
This page was recently moved to WDF World Darts Championship without discussion.
I have moved it back in case a discussion needs to happen. The rumored WDF Championship will be a NEW tournament. Although it replaces this one in the calendar, it is not a continuation of the BDO world championship, and therefore needs its own new article. Additionally, it can be added as a new championship on World Professional Darts Championship. But otherwise, the BDO championship should stay here as a "former" tournament.

- This should be the same tournament, not only is it back at the Lakeside with the same TV deal as the 2019 Championship(though those are trivial reasons), for all intents and purposes, the main reason is the WDF has made the history of the BDO World Championship the same as that of the WDF World Championship. The WDF has been sanctioning the championship before the BDO's closure, so the WDF taking direct sanction shouldn't be a surprise when the BDO collapsed

BDO World Darts Championship → WDF World Darts Championship – With the WDF World Championship appearing to be a continuation of the former BDO World Championship, it makes sense that the article should be re-titled and transitioned over to being used for the 2022 edition. The WDF has made the history of the BDO-era the history of the new WDF championship, and noting that the BDO-organised event was WDF-sanctioned. The venue returning to the Lakeside and the WDF-affiliated tournaments that serve as the events that count toward the World Rankings and automatic qualification for the WDF World Championship being part of the same structure that led into the BDO World Championship also help make the tournament be a continuation of the BDO version and not a whole new event. *Support The WDF are promoting the event as a continuation of the BDO championships, agree that moving the article makes sense. Per DLManiac's comment below, I'm removing my support for the moment, it needs a little bit more investigation - looks ambiguous at present whether it is a continuation of the BDO event or a successor to it --Bcp67 (talk) 08:32, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
- Support IF If the WDF and external sources view this as a continuation then it should happen. That is NOT how the WDF was originally promoting the tournament, which is why I reverted back in the day. DLManiac (talk) 16:16, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
