In BMW page it is written "under normal circumstances, it distributes driver power between the front and rear axles in a 40:60 ratio", in here 30:70.
The article does not say whether torque split modulation is only done when DSC is active or is it also done in another situations when the vehicle is already stable? For eg., when the vehicle is climbing or accelerating hard, is more torque sent to the rear wheels?

Similarities with the first generation MB 4Matic[edit]
The mechanism of the xDrive appears to be similar to the first generation of Mercedes Benz 4Matic, the one deployed on the W124 series, wich became infamous for reliability problems with its multiplate clutch(es).
I suppose these have been obviated in the xDrive system, which appears to be a somewhat semplified system in front of this antecessor, but the fact that it relies on clutches to select the torque splitting is , still, a little worrisome. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.41.59.17 (talk) 15:01, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
