was this to have been built at South Urals NPP? Ottawakismet (talk) 03:32, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removed text[edit]

I've removed [1] an unsourced statement by an IP with no other contributions. The claim that use of technology of fast reactors is prohibited by IAEA is just plain false. The claim that Construction of fast reactors Russia violates international agreements is too vague to test (as well as being flawed in grammar). The whole edit requires sources. News as of June 25th 2014[edit]

The reactor reached criticality acoording to nucenet.org: http://www.nucnet.org/all-the-news/2014/06/25/russia-s-beloyarsk-4-ready-to-begin-nuclear-reaction Stepmose (talk) 13:17, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fuel[edit]

Article currently reads in part very similar to the BN-600 reactor core, but the fuel composition is very different. While BN-600 uses medium-enriched uranium dioxide, the new plant will burn mixed uranium-plutonium fuel,....

That is highly misleading. BN-800 uses MOX, [2] [3] unlike the Integral Fast Reactor which uses metal fuel. The difference between metal and oxide is at least as great as that between enriched uranium oxide and MOX, probably greater. It's important to make this distinction, but mixed uranium-plutonium fuel contrasted to uranium oxide could easily be taken to mean mixed uranium/plutonium metallic fuel such as is used in the IFR.

This misinformation is repeated in the IFR article which reads in part a very similar fast reactor, operated as a burner of plutonium stockpiles, the BN-800 reactor, became commercially operational in 2014. No. The differences are very significant. BN-800 has only a few of the many advantages of the IFR. Andrewa (talk) 00:19, 10 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Generation?[edit]

How does it come that BN-800 is listed both as Generation III and Generation IV? (infobox vs see also, but take a look also on those Generation III/IV pages) --213.175.37.10 (talk) 12:55, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
